Talus is built specifically for healthcare communications. Unlike general freelance platforms, it combines sector-specific talent, stronger validation, and platform workflows designed for the way agencies and freelancers actually work.
Talus is for healthcare communications agencies and freelancers who want a faster, more flexible, and more transparent way to work together.
Semantic search is an upcoming Talus feature designed to help agencies find the most relevant freelancers based on fit, context, and meaning, rather than simple keyword matching alone. Building on Talus’s existing rich profiles, filters, reviews, and endorsements, it will add an intelligent search layer that interprets the intent behind a brief and surfaces stronger matches more quickly.
The goal is to reduce manual searching, improve confidence in the shortlist, and move Talus further from a static directory toward a more intelligent platform experience.
Role assignment improves matching by making freelancer expertise clearer and more searchable. Rather than relying on broad job titles or keyword-heavy profiles, it helps Talus categorise freelancers by the roles they are best suited to perform.
This makes it easier for agencies to find more relevant talent faster, compare options with greater confidence, and reduce the risk of choosing someone whose background looks right on paper but is not the best fit for the brief.
Yes. Talus supports agencies and freelancers in the US and has a growing presence there.
Talus is a freelance platform built specifically for healthcare communications. We connect agencies with vetted, endorsed specialists and support the full process in one place – from finding the right freelancer and confirming availability to briefing, contracting, communication, and invoicing.
Getting started as an agency is simple. You can begin by booking a demo or signing up to the platform. To create an account, visit the website, create your profile and wait to be verified by Talus admin.
Once you’re verified, you can begin searching Talus’s network of vetted and endorsed freelancers.
Onboarding is designed to be fast and straightforward. Once you register your account with a few basic details, we will review and verify this within 2 hours. In many cases, agencies can register, identify a freelancer and start working with them within hours of signing up.
You can search using filters such as therapy area, years of experience, area of expertise, reviews, endorsements, qualifications, working days, language, location and more.
Once you have identified strong options, you can contact your top picks, request availability from up to five freelancers at once, choose the best fit, send the brief, and move straight into the work.
Talus supports the full process in one place, including communication, contracting, and invoicing, so getting started is designed to be quick and low-friction. This helps you make a confident choice based on real fit, not guesswork.
AI semantic search will be live in May, which will allow agencies to use intelligent search to find the best fit freelancers.
Role assignment helps agencies hone their search by role and not just skill. This will ensure the platform operates in line with user expectations (some geographies i.e. US search by role, and the assigned roles will also enhance the semantic search layer once it’s live.
The way it works: Talus AI reads the freelancer’s profiles and suggests roles that align with their profile. The freelancers approve the roles to help the system facilitate stronger matching when the requests come in.
Talus is built for speed. Agencies can on average find and work with a new freelancer within 3 hours (and even quicker if both sides are responsive).
Agencies can also build out their personalised directory and brief freelancers within minutes. Speed is a key part of our service.
We provide the infrastructure to allow for communication to happen through Talus, making it easier to manage outreach, briefs, updates, and project conversations in one place.
However, we recognise that every agency likes to work in different ways, so we do not put restrictions on where or how they communicate – all we stipulate is that contracting and invoicing run through the platform for every engagement.
It depends as we have a few workflows available to the clients. The typical engagement starts with the agency searching the Talus network using the filters provided, followed by profile reviews of potential matches, availability request, freelancer selection, and briefing.
Once the project is live, Talus supports communication, contracting, and invoicing through to completion. Agencies can edit and extend contracts easily, if necessary, too.
Talus is designed to reduce mismatches by giving you strong visibility upfront through detailed profiles, endorsements, and reviews. AI semantic search will further enhance the confidence in selection to reduce poor fit too.
If concerns arise, the Talus team can help address fit and project needs quickly and we will help find a suitable replacement if required.
Talus streamlines payments and invoicing as part of the platform workflow, reducing admin and keeping the process simple for agencies. Talus is the appointed payment collection agent for the freelancers and therefore we invoice on the freelancers behalf as part of our service to them. We have two invoice runs per month (at mid and end month).
We send a batch invoice that includes invoices for all freelancers with approved hours within the preceding 15 days, plus one Talus invoice. The client can make one payment and we will handle the rest. (The clients have to approve the freelancers’ hours on the platform before they enter our invoice run, so there are never any surprises).
Agencies pay Talus, rather than managing separate freelance arrangements independently. Agencies pay into our third-party payment account with Wise, where the money is then split out and remitted to the freelancers the same day.
Talus operates with pay as you go, open-ended user agreements. There are no subscription fees, set up fees, or cancellation costs. Talus is designed to be integrated into agency resourcing infrastructure to sit inside and alongside existing processes.
Freelancers must meet Talus’ entry criteria before joining the platform. This includes having at least two years in-house experience at a medical/healthcare communications agency, pharmaceutical company or similar, receiving two endorsements from previous clients or colleagues, and having a detailed Talus profile that reflects what our clients are looking for.
Quality is supported through careful entry criteria, detailed freelancer profiles, endorsements, reviews, and Talus’ specialist focus on healthcare communications.
We also establish close connections with our agency partners to understand their business needs and goals and provide close account support to ensure the clients get the service they expect.
Talus is not a general freelance marketplace. It is purpose-built for healthcare communications, with a network of specialists whose experience, endorsements, and reviews help you hire with confidence.
We have built the platform and network based on inside insights and we have honed the platform infrastructure around ongoing feedback from live freelancer and agency interactions.
Not only is the platform purpose built for healthcare comms talent sourcing, briefing and working, it is built with compliance, regulatory and employment standards in mind.
Head to the Talus website and register your account, then complete the onboarding steps and await verification. Once verified, you enter the Talus network and gain exposure to clients and other business development tools to enhance your freelance career.
You’ll need to provide clear information about your background, expertise, experience, and the type of work you do best. A strong profile helps agencies quickly understand your fit.
Freelancers must meet Talus’ entry criteria before being approved. The entry criteria includes a minimum of two years’ experience in-house at a medical/healthcare communications agency or similar, a detailed profile plus receiving two endorsements to help validate experience and credibility. These are manually reviewed by the Talus team.
Opportunities are shaped by the strength and relevance of your profile, including your expertise, experience, endorsements, reviews, and availability.
Role assignment helps surface opportunities that aids matching your expertise and level of experience with clients worldwide, so you are more likely to be considered for relevant work.
Keep your profile detailed, make your expertise clear, secure strong endorsements, and build positive reviews over time. The stronger your profile, the easier it is for agencies to choose you.
In addition to this, freelancers that win time and time again are the ones that are responsive and professional in their communication.
Freelancers are expected to deliver high-quality work, communicate clearly, and work in line with the agreed brief, timelines, and expectations – the same as they would do off the platform.
Talus supports communication through the platform so that project discussions, briefs, and updates are easier to manage. Some agencies prefer to communicate off platform, which is permitted.
If a project changes, the agency is encouraged to communicate this as early as possible and conform to standard professional expectations. The job can be edited at any point, and pending acceptance from the freelancer, timelines, and next steps can be adjusted transparently.
Talus supports invoicing and payment workflows to make the process more streamlined and less stressful for freelancers. Talus is assigned as your payment collection agent on your acceptance of the user agreement – this allows us to invoice on your behalf.
Once verified, you will be able to provide your bank details through our Wise API (Wise is our 3rd party payment provider). Talus does not store any financial information. You will also be asked to provide your company information (if relevant) and tax rate.
Following approval of any hours you have worked with a client, these hours will fall into our next invoice run (at mid and end of month). Once the client pays in line with the agreed payment terms, the funds will be remitted from our Wise account to freelancers the same or next day, depending on the time of receipt.
This is trackable from the Financials dashboard, and all invoices are provided for download in PDF.
